Overview

Review templates save a reusable questionnaire for future review cycles. Use a template when several cycles need the same self-review questions, reviewer questions, instructions, or rating format. You can load a template into a draft cycle and adjust its questions for that cycle. Those cycle-specific edits do not change the original template.

Who can use this

  • Company admins in companies where the reviews module is enabled

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open Reviews from the company sidebar.
  2. Open Review templates.
  3. Click Create template.
  4. Enter a clear template name.
  5. Add instructions for reviewees when they need context before answering.
  6. Add instructions for reviewers when they need guidance for their feedback.
  7. Add questions for the reviewee, the reviewer, or both.
  8. Choose the response type for each question, such as text or a rating where available.
  9. Choose the appropriate visibility for each question.
  10. In the Review outcome section, turn on the option to require a reviewer to choose a conclusion when completing a review.
  11. Add at least two outcome choices, such as Promote or Meets expectations. You can add up to ten choices and reorder or rename them.
  12. Click Save.
Review outcomes are available when the template has at least one reviewer question or a final reviewer rating. Each template can have its own outcome choices, so you can tailor the conclusions to the review type.

Use a template in a review cycle

  1. Create or open a draft review cycle.
  2. In Questions, click Load from template.
  3. Select the template you want to use.
  4. Review the loaded questions and instructions.
  5. Make any cycle-specific changes before you schedule the cycle.

What happens next

Templates remain available for future draft cycles. Once a cycle is scheduled, its questions and instructions are locked so participants work from the intended questionnaire.

Troubleshooting

I cannot find a template

Make sure you are in the correct company and that the template has not been removed. Use the template search when your company has several templates.

I cannot change questions in a scheduled cycle

This is expected. Create or edit a template for a later cycle instead. Questions and instructions are locked after scheduling so the participant experience stays consistent.
