Overview
Teamper sends company request notifications through the shared Inbox and by email so the right people can act at the right time. Approvers receive action-required prompts for the current approval step, and requesters receive updates when a request is approved, rejected, or cancelled.Who can use this
- Company admins
- Employees who are assigned as company request approvers
- Employees who requested or submitted a company request
Before you start
- Make sure the request type already has an approval flow when approval is required
- Make sure the recipient has an active employee record and can sign in to Teamper
- Ask recipients to check that they can open Inbox inside their company workspace
Step-by-step guide
Review an approval prompt
- Open the notification from Inbox or from the email link.
- Sign in to Teamper if prompted.
- Review the company request detail page.
- Check Summary, Approval Process, Request Details, and Timeline.
- Optional: add a timeline comment when you want to share context, handoff notes, or follow-up details that should stay with the request history.
- Optional: mention an eligible request viewer with
@when you need their attention. - Click Approve or Reject if you are the current approver for that step.
- Add a decision note when Teamper asks for one.
Review a requester update
- Open Inbox.
- Go to Updates.
- Open the company request update.
- Review the latest status on the company request detail page.
How notifications work
- Company request approval prompts appear under Inbox > Action Required only for the employee assigned to the current approval step.
- Later approvers do not see an inbox task or approval email until Teamper moves the request to their step.
- Requesters receive Updates and email notifications when the request is approved, rejected, or cancelled.
- If an admin submits a request for another employee, the request detail and email can show both Requested for and Submitted by.
- Notification links open the full company request detail page after sign-in instead of a simplified preview. That is the same request detail workflow covered in Submit and manage company requests.
- Opening an inbox item can mark it as read after Teamper loads the request.
Use timeline comments on company requests
- Add a comment from the request detail page when you want to capture extra context in the shared request history.
- Timeline comments appear in the same Timeline as request activity such as submission, approval progress, assignment changes, and final outcomes.
- Timeline comments are separate from approval or rejection notes. A decision note explains that one action. A timeline comment stays as a general shared note on the request.
- Comments are plain text and support up to
1000characters. They support@mentions, but not replies or attachments. - After you type
@, Teamper only offers active people who already have access to the request: the requester, submitter, assignee, approvers, participants, and eligible company admins. You cannot mention yourself. - A mention never grants access. If someone is not eligible to view the request, they do not appear in the mention list and Teamper rejects a submitted mention for them.
- A newly mentioned person receives an Inbox update and email. Teamper may also send a web push notification when that person has enabled push notifications.
- Mention emails tell the recipient who mentioned them and link to the request, but do not include the comment text.
- Editing a comment does not notify the same person again for an unchanged mention. Adding a new eligible mention notifies that person.
- You can edit your own comments. You can delete your own comments, and company admins can also delete comments on the request timeline.
- When someone deletes a comment, Teamper keeps a neutral
Comment deletedtombstone in the timeline so the request history stays readable.
What happens next
When an approver approves a step, Teamper either moves the request to the next approver or finishes the approval flow. When a request reaches a final outcome, Teamper records that status on the request and sends the requester an update. If someone opens an older notification after the request changed, the link still opens the request detail page when they still have access. The request may no longer show Approve or Reject if the step is already completed, skipped, rejected, or no longer assigned to that person. If you add a timeline comment, it appears in the shared timeline right away. If a comment is later removed, Teamper keeps the deleted-comment tombstone in place instead of collapsing the timeline.Troubleshooting
An approver did not receive an inbox task
Check that the request is still waiting on that approver’s current step. Teamper only shows action-required items for the active approval step.An approver received an old email but cannot act
Open the request detail page and review Approval Process and the current status. Another approver may already have completed or dismissed that step.A removed comment still appears in the timeline
This is expected. Teamper keeps a neutralComment deleted tombstone so the request timeline stays in order.
A requester did not receive an update
Check whether the request reached a final outcome such asapproved, rejected, or cancelled. Outcome notifications are sent after Teamper records that result.
An email notification is missing
Confirm that the recipient is an active employee, can sign in to Teamper, and has access to the request. If the request moved on before the message was sent, Teamper can treat the old approval prompt as stale and stop that email from being sent.Someone does not appear in the mention list
Confirm that the person is active, can sign in, and already has access to the request. Add them to an eligible request role before mentioning them; the mention itself cannot give them access.A mentioned person did not receive a notification
Check that this is a newly added mention and that the person still has access. An existing mention is not sent again when you edit the comment. Ask the recipient to check Inbox and email, and confirm push notifications are enabled if they expected a push alert.FAQs
Why do only some approvers see the request in Inbox?
Teamper only notifies the current approval step. This keeps later approvers from acting too early or reviewing stale work. What can approvers do from the request detail page?
Current approvers can review the request summary, progress, answers, and timeline history, add shared timeline comments, and use Approve or Reject when those actions are available. What does the email notification include?
Company request emails include the request type, company, current status, Requested for, and sometimes Submitted by. Approval emails link back to Teamper so the approver can review the full request record before deciding. Are timeline comments the same as approval or rejection notes?
No. Approval or rejection notes belong to that decision. Timeline comments are separate shared notes that stay in the request history. Can I use mentions, replies, or attachments in timeline comments?
You can use@mentions for eligible request viewers. Replies and attachments are not supported.
