Overview

Leave policies group the rules that control employee balances and request behavior. Employees are assigned to one leave policy at a time, and your default active policy is used by bulk employee imports.

Who can use this

  • Company admins

Create a leave policy

  1. Go to Leave Policies.
  2. Click Add leave policy.
  3. Enter the policy name.
  4. Optional: enter Description (Optional) when you want admin-facing context on the policy.
  5. Save the policy.
  6. Open the policy and configure its leave policy rules.
Teamper shows the description on the leave policy detail page header. Use it for internal context such as policy purpose, country coverage, or rollout notes for admins.

Manage the policy list

  • Use the Status switch to move a policy between Active and Archived.
  • Use Set default on an active policy when you want new imports to use it automatically.
  • Use the Employees count to see how many people are assigned to the policy.

Delete a leave policy

Delete a policy only when it is no longer in use. Teamper blocks deletion for policies that still have assigned employees.

What happens next

  • Imported employees use the active default policy.
  • Individual employees can be moved to another policy from their employee record.
  • If you added a description, admins can see it on the leave policy detail page.

Troubleshooting

You cannot set a policy as default

Only active policies can be set as the default policy.

You cannot delete a policy

Remove employee assignments first, then try again.
