Overview

You can only approve or reject a leave request when Teamper shows you as the current approver for a pending request. If the page opens but the action is unavailable, the request state or your approver assignment is usually the reason.

Who can use this

  • Approvers who can open a request but cannot act on it
  • Direct managers who are checking whether view access is different from approval access
  • Company admins helping confirm approver setup

Step-by-step guide

  1. Refresh the leave request page.
  2. Confirm that the request status is still pending.
  3. Check whether another approver may already have handled the request.
  4. Ask a company admin to confirm that you are assigned as a department approver when needed.
  5. Ask the admin to confirm that your employee record is active and linked correctly.
If you tried to approve, reject, or cancel a request and Teamper tells you that it changed, reload the latest request state before taking any further action. Teamper safely refreshes the request when another actor has already handled it, the request can no longer be changed, or your approval permission has changed.

Troubleshooting

The request is no longer pending

Approval actions only appear on pending requests. Once the request is approved, rejected, or cancelled, you can no longer act on it.

Another approver already resolved it

If another approver made the decision first, Teamper reloads the current request state and removes the remaining pending approval actions. Check the updated status. You cannot change a request that is already resolved.

You can see the request but do not have a pending approval step

This can happen when you are allowed to view the request as a manager or approver-related contact, but the request is not currently assigned to you for action.

You are not a valid actionable approver

An approver must be active and correctly linked in Teamper. If your employee profile, membership, linked user, or email setup is incomplete, Teamper may not let you approve. You also cannot act if you are inactive, archived, no longer assigned to the active approval step, or have otherwise lost approval permission. Ask a company admin to check the current approver assignment and your active employee access.

FAQs

Why can I view the leave request if I cannot approve it?

View access and approval access are different. Teamper can let you view a request because you manage the employee or approve their department, while approval actions still depend on you having the current pending approval step.

What should I do after Teamper says the request was already updated or I no longer have permission?

Review the reloaded request status and timeline. If the request is still pending but you think you should be able to act, ask a company admin to confirm that you are active and assigned to the current approval step.
