Overview

The org chart is a read-only view of company reporting lines. It places managers above their direct reports and uses department or team names only as labels; department hierarchy does not determine the chart.

Who can use this

  • Company admins can always open the org chart.
  • Active employees can open it when a company admin enables sharing.
Admins see active, invited, and not-invited employees. Employees see active employees only. Archived employees never appear.

Use the org chart

  1. Open Org chart.
  2. Expand or collapse reporting branches as needed. The first two levels open initially, while deeper branches start collapsed.
  3. Search by employee name to show matching employees and their visible manager chains.
  4. Use the email action on a card to contact the employee at their company email address.
The chart can have more than one top-level employee. Someone also appears at the top level when their manager is not visible in the current view.

Share the org chart with employees

  1. Open Company Settings.
  2. Enable Share org chart with employees.
  3. Click Save Changes.
When sharing is off, employees do not see Org chart in navigation and cannot open it directly. Sharing is off by default.

Privacy and access

Employee cards show work-directory information such as name, avatar, job title, department or team, reporting context, and a company-email action. Employee viewers cannot open another employee’s record from the chart or see private profile, leave, or personal contact information. Admins can open employee records from eligible cards.

Troubleshooting

An employee is in the wrong place

Update the employee’s Manager on their employee record. Changing their department does not change reporting lines.

An employee cannot open the chart

Confirm that the employee is active and Share org chart with employees is enabled.

Search hides most of the chart

This is expected. Search keeps matching employees and their manager chains visible while hiding unrelated branches. Clear the search to restore the full chart.
